CPS or what

last night truck stalled after backing up and then restarted no prob.
started fine this morning and kinda kicked a bit while driving down the road as we traveled from Omaha to K.C.
This afternoon after getting back truck stalled a couple of times while driving down the road and then restarted no problem. Then went to local auto parts store and tried to read OBDII codes and none were read and the deivce said that the CEL was on yet I didn't see any light on the truck.

I don't pre-fill my oil filter before installing it. Does this lead a code that I can't erase?

Anyway back to the point,
I tried to clear the codes at all, just trying to see if it would work and help.

Then the truck wouldn't stay running and tach would move while cranking.
I have already d/c the fuel heater and replaced #22 fuse before. I have had the dealership replace the recalled CPS earlier this year.

Truck then re-started after 6-10 times and stayed running for a drive home from the parts store.

I haven't yet replaced the CPS but will or can I rule that out?

Thanks
Flea

Probably not. What color is the sensor?
Is it black or is it blue?

i will have to check tomorrow when I get off work tonight.

you cant always trust the autoparts scanners, they are as generic as it gets, most times they wont work right on our trucks.

there is alot of issues with the new replacement cam sensor. if it stalled that many times on you and if it is a cam sensor you should have both codes stored by now, try someone elses scanner

What other electrical problems could it be?
Maybe IDM?
Who else could I get to scan for free? The other parts stores have the same scanner?

Iam with coon try and get the codes pulled.
For now disconnect the CPS and clean the connections with some electrical contact cleaner. Connect and disconnect a few times. Then give it a last spray and connect it with some dielectric grease on the seal.

Its worth a shot.

I had a transmission shop check and clear my codes for me. Try that.

What issues have folks been having with the gray CPS? I'm not having any problems at all. Now that I've said that, my truck probably won't start and I won't make to the Dyno Day tomorrow.

If the dyno shop will allow it, I'll be checking the results using different resistors for the ICP Resistance mod. Hopefully I can get printouts of each run with the different resistors. I'm also getting a baseline run without any resistor first, then I'll add a resistor for the following dyno runs.

I'm running the 14.7K now and my mileage went UP to 17.7 mpg as of the fill-up yesterday.

I thought about maybe that was my prob. and that my connectors had come loose with the long heated drive. I will look at it.
Good idea.

I got 17.5 mpg at 80 mph with the 15K resistor.

I found from the dealer that there is (was) a 12-month / 12,000 mile warranty on the recall CPS. (I was at 11 months, but over the 12,000-mile portion; no gimme on that one, so I installed my spare.)

If you think it's the CPS, and it sounds like it could be, take it to the dealer and ask them to check for codes. If the CPS is bad, and you're under warranty, good for you.
