okay so scratch that idea after further analysis the heads are warped about .008 and cannot be resurfaced so I need new ones which brings the total cost of repairs to a little over 9grand cuz I also had to replace the entire cooling system. At this point theyre telling me I should get a new motor for $9,600 (reman) so I have some serious thinking to do tonight I need my truck for friday to tow my boat to havasu... looks like I might have to pull with my buddys truck.

That S@#KS. One bright side it looks like from your pictures you are very mechanically inclined. I dont know if I missed it but if every thing else is good why not just put on a new set of heads? Do you know of any junk yards around there that might have a set of heads, just trying to think of a way for you to save money.

Hey George, sorry I didn't respond to the head milling question. It's expensive but better to have it fixed properly with new heads.

I didn't read back through the thread, did you have head studs when it blew and warped the heads? What exactly was wrong with the cooling system?

I'm just curious on what started going wrong and lead to the blown gaskets and warpage.

no i had the stock bolts i never got around to doing the arp's so it got so bad that i was going thru to much coolant i started adding water and the steam from the water destroyed the degas bottle the radiator and the hoses, the water pump also needed replace meant. It got so bad the heads were also junk. Now I know fix the problem right away instead of waiting for something else to go.
