Need a little help restoring a 55 f-100 Engine block reads B9AE 6015f which would indicate it is a 1959 292 maybe a 312 from a car
Intake manifold reads ECZ 9425B which indicates a 1957 4 barrell intake manifold am I right in assuming this and is there a possibility this could be a 312 was told that if it had ECZ main caps it could be a mercury 312. Also this would be a car engine hope someone responds they think I'm crazy at the parts store wanting things for a 55 59 and 57 truck and car please help Also installing power steering in the truck and need pulleys for the motor help please Crowebar
I may have a twin: a 55 F-100 with the exact same block #. It may be either a 1959 292 or 312 according to my source. My info from www.fairlane.nu/spec/y-block-dimensions (but I have not recently been able to activate this site).
During rebuild I saw my bottom end a foot away from a 292, the ECZcaps, bearings and crank are bigger ; I have the 312 from a Mercury it seems. The same block built without those ECZ caps would be a 292.
I guess I would not invest too much time or $ until I dropped the pan and took a good look at the main brg caps.
Curious what color your block is if you think it is original.

PS I got stuck with a 2bbl on there- seems they were too lazy to deal with a linkage change or something- I am now putting on the 4bbl
I got the site to work. Dunno why I had to go to a Swedish 58 Ford site and click on English, but it worked. http://www.fairlane.nu/english/spec/y-block-dimensions.htm
