cv boot replacement on a 95 taurus
Hello, I am currently trying to replace the cv boot on my 95 taurus gl, 3.0l, and i cant figure out how to get the shaft out of the knuckle, i have everything disconnected from the knuckle except for the lower control arm. The axle nut is off, but it won't budge. I don't see any snap rings around where the axle nut tightens, am I missing something? Could there be something underneath the grease on the part of the shaft closest to the knuckle? Was wondering if anyone has had to do this project for their taurus and if you have any tips, thanks in advance.

It's probably rusted together. I found this great penetrating oil called Free All, it's the best stuff I've ever found to get through rust.

If you are replacing the whole axle, put the nut back on a few threads and go to town with a hammer.

I was doing a little more searching online, and it looks like i need a special tool to get them apart, it screws onto the wheel studs then presses on the axle. I tried my dead blow hammer and a lot of PB blaster so it looks like i am going to have to find this thing.
