power mirror question.
To remove the switch all you need is "a flat blade screwdriver and some confidence" as another site put it. Use a sharper blade, at least 1/4" wide, and you should be fine. Also, I needed to go deeper than I first estimated before prying up. (Note: I have a 2002 F150...make sure you have the same switch in your model/year.)
I started losing some power mirror control capability about 18 months ago...completely gone about 8 months ago. Thanks to threads like this one, I figured the switch was the likely culprit, and thanks to the info above, I learned that WD40 might be used to rehab the switch.
I removed the switch, cleaned it, sprayed WD40 liberally on the top side, and exercised both the "joystick" and "lever" about 100 cycles in each direction...I now have 100% mirror control restored. I'll post an update if the switch fails anytime soon...
Many thanks!

I know this is older, but no sense reposting on the same subject.
I did the clean on the 01 in my sig and it worked great.
HOWEVER
the 99 i just bought, is another story. Someone replace the pass mirror with non power, and it looks like they replaced the drivers mirrors as well, it is power. but the wire harness is differant.
anyway at the truck harness there are three wires coming out red, blue, yellow they run to a plug that has also a black wire that has been cut and goes to nothing.
one wire is hot which wires can i jump to test mirror and do you need the pax mirror for it to work correctly?
