I disconnected teh batteries and let it set for a while to clear. Still the same issue. There is power to the trransmission and power to the TPS module.
you cannot test the fipl voltage at the trans it does not go there
it is linked to the processor
the readings you are getting like the 4.93 volts is whats called refference voltage
this is also present at the transmission for the fluid temp sensor
definitely have it checked for codes and do not disconnect the batteries you will erase important code information
this is the number one thing that really pisses technicians off is for the customer to clear the codes and then ask to have it diagnosed
Thanks!! We have a scanner but it appears there is no signal (?) at the EEC port. Is that where we should be checking or is there another place? I saw two (?) ports under the dash as well. I greatly appreciate the help.
The saga continues. I pulled the wiring plug on the passenger side of the transmission and tried to clean the plug and socket. I cleaned everything and test drove. The trans started hunting once but went back to the way it was before. I took it back and unplugged again. When I disconnected it again I took a good look at the wiring and it appears to be bad. I left it unhooked for a few days. I hooked it back up today and nothing. The truck won't even crank. Looks like I need some wiring. Does anyone sell a harness for the transmission? I alos noticed on a couple other posts where people are having trans problems others are asking if their tach works correctly. Mine doesn't. It works when the truck gets up to speed but is at zero on idle. Any correlation between that and my transmission issue? As always, thanks in advance!
Yes your trans needs to know what rpm the engine is at to figure out when to shift. Fix that and you may fix your problem well except for your new no crank situation. Did you clean the conector after you left it off for a couple days it may have got corroded.
I pulled the connector off the shift solenoid pack and checked the wires and plug. What a mess. I bought a new connector pigtail and installed it. No change. Still won't start but I think the neutral safety switch went out. I can jump the solenoid and it starts and there is power to the neutral safety switch. Once I get that fixed I'm going to see if we can get any codes to come up now that the connector to the shift pack is right. This has to be something easy we are missing. The trans shift great when the OD is off and when the TPS is unplugged. It's a dog when the TPS is connected and the OD is on and I still have no kickdown.
