Duramax driver: "oh yeah, dang dude that's sweet, how does it run?"
Me: "Pretty good. Low 13's. I made enough space by hacking the firewall, to fit the 6.6 in front of the 7.3, i moved the 7.3 back two feet... Here look.... i can change programs and it automatically starts up the 7.3 and i get better fuel mileage that way, or when i throw a rod, i can limp home in duramax mode (as the light turns green)"
I like the idea, but I'm with Justin on this one. I just shut the truck off. The next time I send the chip to get a reburn, I will add it though. Jody is a maestro.
We need a poll here. Who is too lazy, and does not mind sitting in a drive-thru line. I think they should be outlawed anyway. What a waste they really are if you think about it. I won't sit in a drive thru for anything, well except for a free bag of money maybe.
I have to agree with you Mark,
Fuel isnt expensive until people start ditching the drive thrus and get off their fat *** and go in to eat some food. (or to bank)
THere is nothing worse than a guy or gal bitching about the fuel prices as they pump the fuel in their car or truck then fire it up and drive over to the Fatdonalds and sit in line for over 15 minutes to stuff their face with some lipids. How do you think the government is going to get the point when people are idleing away all of this gas each day sitting waiting to eat.
I've said it once , I'll say it again, fuel isnt expensive until the drivethrus are empty. Period.
All this animosity towards drive thru's. I don't get it. If you are sitting for 15 minutes in a drive thru, then you need to find a new (insert favorite fast food restaurant name here). There was a thread here last year in the summer where the amount of diesel used at idle in these trucks was determined to be less than a gallon in 2 hours of idling. I don't think the drive thru's in this country are where most of the idling is done anyway. Try all the frickin' traffic lights, now there you may have something, but drive thru's, not so much.

It is the fact of the matter. The engine does not switch to running on air when you start to sit in line with the engine running and wiat for your meal. Gassers consume a ton of fuel with the A/C on on a hot day.
What about your local Bank on a thursday or friday. Two tellers working a window with 20 cars lined up. Not pretty man. You know how fast those lines move.
I am simply noteing that added up, the amount of fuel connsumed idleing waiting for that bigmac or your favorite burger is not pretty.
I think what you are saying is that is is ok to idle at drivethrus but not at stop lights. Avoiding any unnescary idleing at all is probably the right thing to do.
