my 302 is toast i think unless theres something that can be done about it i know it has something to do with my driving but i cant help it i always have it held to the floor boards always lighting the rear tire up stuff like that. the problem is that when i come to a stop it loses all oil pressure when i get going again the needle will go back up to the r or the m in normal and it will continue to do this every time i stop.it runs fine when it has no oil pressure and ive let it run for a while when its like that. any help here guys?
the truck has about 192000 kilometers on it

Get a manual oil pressure guage and remove your oil sending unit and check to see what the pressure is at hot and cold, low and high idle. The pressure should be around 25-40psi.The pressure will be higher when cold. This will tell you if its a guage problem.Since its a high mileage and often abused engine, your probably going to have to put rod and main bearings in it.These are the crankshaft bearings and their clearances are getting wider. This is a very time consuming job.I have done it a few times and you dont have to pull the engine, unless you want to overhaul it. You have to jack up engine, drop exhaust, drop oil pan and oil pump and then remove a couple of caps at a time and DONT get them mixed up!!!They are numbered on the sides. And you could overhaul it,but if you're strapped for cash new bearings and new oil pump(since its out)is a lot cheaper. The new bearings will decrease the amount of clearance between the crank and rod journals, thus increasing your oil pressure.Good luck Windsor
