302 bored out

is there a formula to see how many cubes ya have after boring out any engine?

I think the 302 I have has been punched out .040 over

I cheated and used this site:

http://www.idavette.net/tech/inch_lit.htm

(ok ok it's not a ford site but the calculator is slick).....

and used 4.040" bore and 3" stroke. Stock 302 is 4"x3"

does a 6 cubic inch increase in displacement give you much more punch?

All by itself, probably not.. but inches is inches and it will help some... my 351W is bored 40 over (making it a 358).. but i did so many other things other than that to the engine, i really would have no idea if the additional 7 cubic inches made any diff by itself...

to figure cubic inches you multiply bore x bore x stroke x .7854 x number of cylinders. thus a 302 bored .040= 307.6556 or 308ci. 4.040 x 4.040 x 3 x .7854 x 8 =308
