that helped but i'm getting no spark. I noticed that a ballast resister is needed after the coil. I used an extsting one that was on my factory harness.... a green wire with a brown box thing on it. I ahve everything wired.... so I think the mod i got at the junk yard was bad.
that diagram ^ also helped alot but I still am not getting any spark. i had the modgual tested and its good. If i can't get this to work i'll just scrap the thing and buy me a chevy as I have never had any luck with fords.
I am still useing the square coil. Is that ok? I thought I'd be better as I just bought it 3 days ago. I have the round one but I have no center wire for it as I didn't relise it was different connector on it when I was at the junk yard today.
Also, I ahve a new GM Modgual from a 93 chevy with a 4.3 and I have used these in 350's... Can this be used if i can't get the duraspark box working? It has 2 pins sticking out saying P and N. There the small plug has a +C and the larger plug has a GMRE... Just an idea.
No power to the coil. I ahve a blassest resister between the + on the coil and the battery (I'm direct wiring it to the battery to test this to see how it will work before wiring it in permint).
Well, I'm done. Its going to the scrap yard. I have sunk too much money into it in the last 2 weeks. It was my grandpa's old truck and I got it when he died so no one knew what was really wrong with it. It's like "The Money Pit".
Not knocking anyone, but it just needs someone who knows more about it to look at it. Wouldn't scrap a good truck over not being able to solve a small problem.
well... I could not get it timmed and all i heard was how converting it to a duraspark system would fix everything.... and its not. Now it wont even run and I have wired it too many time to count, bought 5 ballast resisters so I know I can't have a bad one.... I'm just tired of it. Its a 22yr old truck and its rusty... I had not planned spending $500.00 in parts and not being able to drive it. I could have gottin my old dodge back on the road for that.

Thias does not sound right to me.
The resistor Wire should be color Red/Lt. Green stripe. The same color as the coil wire from the ignition switch.
