Vacuum Advance Vacuum

On a ' 79 302 that I've removed all the "smog" stuff, set it up like a plain old 289, where should I be pulling vacuum from for the vacuum advance unit (stock Motorcraft 2100 series 2v) from the side or under the front left side, I've allways used the one on the right side until now, the engine runs well but when vacuum is hooked up it runs weird, like its getting too much advance or something. Thanks!!!-Supercab

Vacuum Advance Vacuum

One of the ports on your carb should be a timed port that will not open until you reach 800-900 rpms. This is the port that should run to your vacuum advance on your distributor. You can easily check this by setting your idle to 500-600 rpms and pull off the vacuum line on your carb. If there is no vacuum, it should be the timed port.
