i need a p. valve for my 1974 2wd
i need to know if i can use a valve that dosent have the warning light switch?
is there one available? mine keeps leaking out the top of the switch where the two wires come out.
i would, but im needing it today.
ill probably hit up advanced auto when i get off work.
does anyone know of a stock proportioning valve that dosent have a warning light?
You won't find any rebuilt or new OE-style proportioning valve at any of the parts houses. I was trying to find one for my '78 2-wheel drive and called 5 Ford dealerships before I found someone willing to search a paper catalog instead of just looking at a computer screen. A new one from Ford costs anywhere between $200-$220. I don't have the Ford part number here at work but I'll post it tonight for you when I get home.
I ended up buying a replacement brass unit from an Evil-bay store and will PM you tonight with details since I know this forum frowns on mentioning "non-authorized" vendors. (I don't know why--I guess those vendors probably don’t contribute $$ to FTE.)
The long and short of it--you won't find one quickly or cheaply. For a part that's so apt to go bad, I find it amazing that's the case.
