I have a 2001 7.3 and starting yesterday the truck died twice on me but restarted this happened every time I let off the acellerator and this morning it did it again but this time she will not start but will crank over.
Does this sound like the CPS sensoe to anyone?
There is a recall for the PCS. Go to your local dealer and they will change it for free. You might want to call them and tell them what is happening, they might let you have one to bring home and install it.
I replaced the CPS and still no start.
The motor is geting fuel the batteries are hot and the air cleaner was pulled to see if that was causing it.
Any suggestions?
What happens when you turn the key on (not to start)? Do all your dash lights function normally? WTS light comes on then goes off, etc. Do you hear the fuel pump running? Any buzzing or clicking sounds?
Put your air filter back on. Check your fuel filter, drain the fuel filter bowl and watch it fill back up to make sure it comes back up nice and smooth so we can rule that out. It sounds like an electrical or sensor problem. We just need to narrow it down.
OK here are the results.
The WTS light does come on and goes after a couple of seconds as it as always done. And the dash function lights are working. Also all the normal buzzing from the fuel pump and the clicking from the relays also.
Pulled the fuel filter and drained the bowl and the bowl fills up smoothly.
The HPOP was low added some rotella and after several cranks no go and also added oil to the engine about two quarts.
And the fuel tank is full as of this morning when all this started there was 3/4 tank of fuel.
The engine has 315000 miles on her and unfortuntely she is puffing smoke I have been told that the engine could go another 100000 if we take care of her and trust me I dive like grandpa. And having to add two quarts to her about once every two weeks.
