I bought a holley12-832 80 gph fuel pump for my truck. Apparantly there's something different about the water pump and oil filter adapter arrangment on FEs made after 1970. The pump doesn't fit (interferance in these two spots), and the top of the box says ford v8s 55-70. I guess I should have read the fine print before ordering from summitracing.com. I really want to have a quality, reliable pump in my truck.
What are you guys running in your post 1970 trucks that puts out enough fuel for higher performance builds and is reliable? I'd like to stick with a mechanical pump for now.
Scooter, There is a pump with screw on filter below and one without, but as far as I know all FEs use the same bolt up pattern pump. There could be some that have different flow rates.
Maybe someone else has more knowledge. Bill should know.

1965/76 FE's all use the same waterpump: D4TZ-8501-H.
You will see different ID numbers on pumps because Ford just loves to update part numbers. D4TZ is a 1974 part number, but I guar-antee it will fit a 1965.
1964 is different, 1958/63 is different again. 1958/63 uses a different stud for the generator mount than 1964 does.
Most 1958/76's FE's use a similar fuel pump, there are two exceptions...one dif is what John mentioned above.
1958/60: Some cars had vacuum operated wipers, some didn't.
Why does the box say 1955 when the FE didn't come out till 1958?
Because, the 272/292/312 engines use the same fuel pumps the FE engines did.
I know....hard to believe, but that what the catalogs say, and I've owned more than my fair share of both Y blocks and FE's.
20 1963/64 Galaxies alone, and prolly another 15 or so 1955/1957 Fords.
both the pump that came on the truck when I bought it and the first replacement pump that I bought from carquest had screw on filters. I thought that the perf pump would last a little longer and help a very minor vapor-lock problem in the summer time. I guess all that doesn't matter if Holley's pump doesn't fit. Does anyone know where I can get a carter or other quality pump that is the oe design?
