There's nothing wrong with being a ground pounder. The pointy end of the stick is the important one anyway. What kind of chopper are you looking to get into?

im looking into apache's.i wanna still be able to blow stuff up.lol. still want the combat, just not the acheing from walking all over the place.and now adays our freakin gear is getting crazy.it was much more simple when i first came in and that wasnt long ago. but it was simple, ur gear was ur bullet proof vest, helmet(that isnt so bullet proof) ur ammo and whatever u have to carry ur ammo. ur weapon too ofcourse.now we have all types of crazy gear aditions.i feel like the stay puff man when i gear up and im a really short skinny guy. but anyways getting back to the question at hand, i wouldnt mind flying black hawks either. i really wanna fly for the SARS team in the coast guard (oddly enuff) but i cant do it becuz i have too much time in the army and im not eligible for their OCS. and their warrant officers cant fly.so im jus takeing what i can get.apache's make me happy too.lol

k.....im jus sitting here thinking coul dit be my MAP sensor is toast? ugh i dunno but the wife says smoke comes out from under the hood too....but there is a physical oil leak some where on top the engine so that would explain the smoke under the hood......the truck runs normal and strong so im almost deffinate that the problems is minor.and cheap.....*fingers crossed**knocking on wood* *and anything else that indicates hopein* but seriously im sure its small. i was woried about piston ring blowby.....had an oil annaylisis done....wife did it actually, which surprised me and i will have to say im proud of here for that...... the test showed nothing adnormal.well slightly high silica level (found a hole in the air filter. and replaced it) but wear metals were normal (which if im correct would be high if rings were worn,no deisel fuel in the oil either and low carbon/soot levels) all of which i think r indicators of LOW blow by. so that helped some, plus in big cases of blow by(to the point of smokeing) the engine runs rough, not the case. so im thinking maybe CCV issues, maybe a bad sensor some where.maybe a bad seal in either turbo or valve guides (PITA) im still thinking and throwing stuff out there, yall think im on track?or way off?.

No the oil leak should not be affecting your smoke unless it's an injector o ring.

Welcome to FTE.

I think it would be a good idea to tighten all the boots on the engine. 4 boots going to the Intercooler and 2 in the valley off the spider coming from the turbo. It doesn't sound like a boost leak, but you never know.

I already emailed here pictures of what the boots look like. It takes a socket. 5/16 & it seems like the orange boots are a different size. I also asked how much oil was leaking, but haven't heard back yet.

If the truck doesn't get driven much, you might want to have her go for a long-ish drive. Get it up to temp, then about 20 minutes on the highway. That will help burn off any deposits that are developing in the oil.

Next thing I'd suggest is to disconnect both batteries for about an hour or so. This will help the ECM 'reset' so you get a fresh start, so to speak.

ok sry it took me so long to get off my a$$ but i been home a week but i been slackin.i did a few tests and found one of my batteries were dead but both were replaced on warrenty.lucky me. but this is the situation now that i have drivin it and inspe3cted it and really got a feel for it and there is more trouble at bay.it smokes horribly but im pretty sure its turbo seals.i have oil leaking out of my exhaust pipe at a clamp about mid way down the truck.im pretty sure thats sayin leaking turbo seals. and that is the cause of the smoke. but there is a bigger problem.its idles REALLY RUFF.has a loud ....fuel?? knock? knocking out of exhaust when u hit the go pedal.when u r driveing it runs really ruff after about 1-2 min of drivein it will get to the point where u can floor it and it will barley want to move,,,,and misses the whole time.acts like it is running out of fuel.that was the state it was in when i drove it a few days ago.but now it wont start it will turn over all day but still no start....what fuses would u suggest i check?i was wonderin if it could be a fuse issue. my buddy is thinking a UVC harness.he has a snap on scanner too and friday we r gonna hit the truck i jus wanted to know what yall thought or what yall suggest. also does anyone know where i can get a new engine harness?mine needs replaceing cuz of a previous engine fire and they didnt replace it they jus patched it up. so i been trying to price that up.well thnx yall for the input in advance. l8r
