I'm not sure why they stuck the cat on the 6 speeds and no one I've talked to can tell me why either. I don't think anyone would notice if your cat happened to fall off since most of the 02 models that weren't CA trucks never came with one.

Yes thats not a bad idea. Im do for my next smog soon so im going to watch whats up. I also know the old boys that do the test. Probably dont even look under the truck. I bet that taking that out alone will increase pwr!

Yes a neighbor of mine just did that. Took muffler out but left rest of of the exhuast stock. He said it improved some! My luck id get arrested for truck being too loud

My son-inlaw removed his muffler on his 99 and used a piece of exhaust pipe to replace it.. Unlike a gasser, it did not increase the noise that much...
