took my excursion into dealer because rear a/c was not blowing cold. They said i need a new rear evaporator at $855.
I heard a rattle under the truck when I hit small bumps in the road, they said i have ball sockets open and a tie rod that needs replacement.... $1200.
My fuel computer died and they wanted $475 to fix it.
My passenger mirror fell out and i bought a replacement glass for it, but it doesn't come with the 3 clips to hold the glass in the mirror housing, so they wanted me to buy a whole new mirror housing arm at $270.
Dang. Did you get this truck new or used and if you handy you can get all those parts from our Sponsors cheaper and get the satisfaction of doing it you self.
On the mirror, run it by a local glass shop and see if they can install the glass. They replace glass all the time for about $50 around here and that includes the mirror and labor. If they can't do it and you actually need an assembly call a salvage yard locally and they can put the part on a locater and get you one even if they don't have one at their yard. It should cost a 1/3 to 1/2 of new price.
**Whatever you do, NEVER go to the service dept at a stealership for work that can be done at their body shop.**
Here in Nashville it is the difference between $75-$100 an hour mechanical vs. $38 an hour for body shop work. Plus the service dept will probably charge you twice the labor to install the mirror than a body shop would.
The two depts will steal work from each other all day long. The service dept will never send it to his body shop but will run it through his own dept at the inflated price.
If you were to purchase the $96.99 A/C Evaporator Core and the left and right outer tie rod ends for $25.89ea. Shipping would be $27.53.
To calculate your shipping cost on our website, place the parts you are intending to purchase into the shopping cart and enter your zip code. It will automatically calculate your shipping costs before your order ships.
