Fugly. Wrong era of lighting for the classic lines of the F-1. All the F-1's need (if anything) is frenching the orig rounds. The mini coops look the least out of place IMO.
Well you did ask and to me it looks bad. It does nothing but take away from what we all like about these trucks. I know all to well what you meen about doing somthing that has not been done but keep in mind their are reasons some things are not done. Also I am sure you all will agree that if you spend as much time as one of these trucks to build you want it to look good for years to come. This kind of mod will date the truck real quick and tell everyone when it was built and they will say yeh well it did'nt even look good back then.
I have a 70 C10 that has tons of custom mods done to it to make it my own but at the same time most people would never know that anything was done. That is the kind of mods I like and they will look good for years to come and not be out dated before the truck is even finished.
Original 3 pics look like one of those Chinese or Korean imports. It makes me appreciate round headlights. The first Avantis had round headlights; they were beautiful.
Of the 3 pics, I like the mini-Cooper ones best, because they destroy the least amount of original body.
I would research more of a vintage style custom upgrade, such as frenching the lights, maybe.
At least you're trying, and that's more than many do. Keep at it.
Haha...ya'll cease to amaze me! I'm loving the humor here! In all seriousness though...this was just an idea floating around in my head and i didn't expect to get such a good response to this thread. All of you have made some very good points and believe me, they are all being taken into consideration. I really do love these old trucks just the way they are but i just have this itch about me that wants to see change and new style. Maybe the Range Rover lights aren't the most practical but it's something different. Who hasn't frenched in the original headlights or swapped them for Mercedes HID's? I completely understand the concept of keeping it simple but unique, but what about originality...that's me...i don't like immitation. The reason i don't like the Mini Cooper lights is because i have seen so many rodders use those and the Mercedes lights on the early 40's trucks and cars, with the more concaved fenders, that already have the bubble headlights. I have so many ideas for the truck and yes the project may take years upon years to complete but when it is finally done hopefully someone will be amazed and reply.."damn that's some insane work and it looks awesome!" I'm not trying to step on anyone's toes here and i really do appreciate all the feedback!
