Just installed an auto meter rear diff temp gauge in my new mag hytech cover. I can't get a good reading and I don't know if the sender might be bad or just bad placement of the sender, I put the sender in the top or the cover ( the only place it will thread into on the whole cover) and I only get readings when I first take off from a stop. I think the sender should be in contact with th efluid but why did they put a spot for the sender on the top or the cover? Is there a possibility the sender is just bad?
I thought that too, but the one in the center has a different thread pattern fine thread if I rember correctly. Did you have to get a different type sender or adapteror is did yours thread in ok ?
The sender should mount in the middle, I have the same cover and the sender wouldnt fit in the center hole, so I drilled a new hole to the right of the center hole and tapped it so the Auto Meter sending unit would fit. It works just fine.
Let me know if you want me to send pics of it, I would have to E-mail them to you because I dont know how to post pictures on here.

Fat Diesel, Toyota Hauler, Thedaddycat, and Reax helped me with this whole thing, they really know what their talking about. I was worried about drilling a hole in a $250 cover but I got over it and worked great. Thanks again guys ~Gage~
I see up to about 150 or so going fast on flat ground for a long distance. I think it went to 190 pulling the dune buggy up the HUGE grade on I-80 into Reno. I've got a switch on the dash that changes the sensor from the diff to the trans. My six speed has seen 235 on that same grade, which lasts a couple of hours.
Nice. i do not have the sensor yet, but would like it, i own a small excavation company and tow all the time with my 04' F250 and my 04 F550. My 04 daily driver has Pyro, boost and trans temp. Isspro guages, would like to use the trans temp. for water temp, but isspro says they will only sell the water temp. sensor with the amplifier.
Sorry to interrupt the tread.
