Trip computer wiring harness
Hey guys done a search and could not find anything about where I can buy the trip computer in the console on the roof wiring, I bought a 04 that did not have a computer, I got the computer from ford dealership, however every attempt to get the wiring that goes from the harness thats screwed to the top under the console to the computer has failed, anyone know where I can get it or the dealers part number?? I read in one thread someone said that "Discount Ford Parts" was a vender on here and they got a computer through them, I was unable to find any info on how to contact them or there website to see if they have it, any help would be great! Call your local boneyard and see if they have an Ex or Superduty you could salvage the harness from. We do this all the time for insurance claims as wire harnesses demand crazy $$$$ from the parts counter. Any decent yard can put it on the locater and find you a harness and have it shipped. Normally salvage parts are 1/4 to a 1/3 of new part costs. Good luck!

Are you sure there is no pigtail stuck away under your headliner? Many times the harness includes all the pigtails but they are capped off and not used if the vehicle does not require them. I have seen this for video units before.

I had the same issue. I have an 02 XLT that was an ex-Government vehicle. I bought a computer used for cheap but when I went to install it, the wiring harness that was already in my console did not match the computer. So it appears that they changed the wiring harness connector that goes to the computer at some point in time. I have been trying to find a schematic in hopes I can splice the wires from my trip computer to the existing wiring harness.

My X didn't come with the indicator message center. I would like to install one. I haven't taken the time to check in the console to see if the wiring is already installed. Sounds like good news so far. So, can I just buy the message center and plug it in, if I have the connecting harness to connect the message center to the wiring?
