BTS VB swap question

How many quarts of oil do I need to get if I am also changing the tranny filter?

And another Newbie question, since I don't have a manual.

What is the correct procedure to check the tranny fluid?
Running, in netrual, check it hot?

Yes, checking fluid, running, in neutral, check it hot.

I think 18 quarts of oil for the tranny flush, lots of great info out on this site and other.

You have a 4R100, not the 5R110 Torqshift. There is an article up in the Articles section. You can use Mercon if you can find it or Mercon V.

FWIW, it doesn't matter if you check the level in Park or Neutral. It's all the same to the tranny with the exception of the parking pawl being engaged in Park.

Thanks guys!

BTW, got the VB in and mated with the DP tuner, it feels like my EX lost 2000 lbs.

This is fun!

It's advised when using the valve body and a tuner that you should keep the tranny in stock tune and let the tuner just adjust the engine. You're doing that, right?

Jody loaded my tunes to work with he BTS valve body.

I acutally put the chip in first, and he recommended that I leave it in STOCK until I put the VB in.

If you get DP tuner, and add a BTS VB later, you will need to get your chip re-burned.
