I have a 94 Ranger. I broke the tailgate cable and have bought replacements. The problem is that I can't get the torx screws out to change the cables. Am I missing something obvious? I have tried everything and those suckers won't budge.
Thanks
y'all
i bought a device that you hammer and it turns as you hammer, it has an interchangeable head so you could find a torx bit to put in there and it would most likely work. It prevents stripping out b/c of the brute force of the impact. Think i got it at oreillys for around 30.00

You don't have to remove the screw to remove the cable. The cable is held to the bolt with the flat thin blade part of the cable hook. You push this blade to the side with a screwdriver and unsnap it from the bolt. This is one reason why tailgates are so easy to steal.
To install the cable, use whatever is handy to push the hook over the bolt. The flat piece is a strong spring. jd
