As someone else noted, the smoke was from big injectors and a non-vgt industrial injection phat shaft 62 turbo. it usually doesn't smoke like that, I did it for the photo. I've done head studs, fire rings, intake, exhaust, custom tune on an SCT X3 programmer (custom for even more power, and to run the non-vgt turbo) It's a variation of the insanity tune from elite diesel engineering, 4" downpipe, 5" straight pipe, AFE Stage II intake, Snow performance water methanol injection w/ extra high pressure pump. I was driving, but my head was by the window looking through the mirror at the smoke. since the pic, I've replaced the frame for an '06 cclb frame, replaced the cab shell for a crew cab I've streched 10" to fit the new frame length, done a suncoast extreme rebuild on the trans with upgraded shift solenoids, billet input shaft, and an ATS high stall 5 star torque converter. If you look close at the "in progress" pics you'll see I'm converting to the super duty handles. If I could photoshop that kind of stuff, I'd quit building custom trucks and go into computer design.
1971 Ford F250 4x4 - '71 stroker
Here's the link to most of the pics I've got for it now. I'll be painting the crew cab this weekend so I'll be able to show you a much more finished product soon.
by the time I've got it finished I'll be in it around 600 or so hours and have done all the work myself. price is very realtive on what trucks/parts you supply, but if you supplied all the parts, the price for labor would start out at about 10 grand. the cheapest way to do it is buy a rolled truck from an auction or whatever set up the way you want, and go from there. That's what I did. I ended up paying about $5000 for the '03 I started with back in '06 when I bought it.

Now that is some GREAT work! Thanks for sharing with us!
Do you think that could be done with a 1951 Ford F-5? Because my dad and I have had on for like 8 years now and have alway thought it would be cool to do that with. but though it would never work.
I really doubt you'd have the room. I'd never try it. If I do another conversion for myself this complex it'd be a cummins in a 40's power wagon. you really need a lot of room to fit the 6.0 with all the crap that comes on it. maybe with a sawzall and a lot of patience and resources it could be done. just get out a measuring tape to see what it'd take.
I'm painting the "mega cab" cab today so I can get the interior finally assembled. If you want to check it out I'll be at the bully dog days of summer this year with it doing the dyno, sled pulls, and dirt drags. I'll also be going to the weekend on the edge racing it at RMR, and hopefully dynoing there too. For bully dog all I'll add is a FASS system, but at weekend on the edge I might be brave enough to try a nitrous kit. It should be fun either way. Who else out there is going to either weekend on the Edge, or Bully Dog days? I'd like to meet a few FTE buddies if you're going. We need a better showing of ford guys at performance shows like that.
