Here's the story - - - 94.5 f-350 4door 4x4 std / powerstroke having problems with cold start (190,000k) and it's running about 95%. went through all the gp system and injector harness. finally broke down and took it to the injector shop, cost me four hundred dollars to find out my injectors are lazy. they say it's from sitting up to much. this is my second powerstroke and have been wanting to sell it for about a year but need to get it fixed before I do. any quick fix suggestion or just suggestions at all.
Spend $250 on a stage 1 kit from DIY injectors. And don't get the intensifier pistons (which is what makes them stage 1's) Basicly you have everything you need to rebuild all your injectors in stock form. Call Jim and talk to him about it.
Just went and picked it up, runs perfect warm. if I don't want to upgrade to stage 1 can I just buy the O-ring kit (not dipaco) and go that route? I'm going to do the upgrade on my 97 but I just want to get this one running perfect and sell. it's my own fault, he said if I had just drivin this truck more often I wouldn't be getting compression bleed by. is there a chance I can do the exterior O-rings since that's what is releasing compression? (live and learn)
Injectors probably won't help a compression problem if that is what is going on. There is a copper washer/seal at the bottom that keeps any compression away from the injector o-rings. Did they give you any compression numbers?
They didn't give me any numbers, they basically confirmed what I already knew (that it runs rough til warm). the only solution they offered was to change all the injectors, in which case I was going to do the stage 1 or try and rebuild them factory. I can get all the factory O-rings for about 60 dollars but I'm trying to make sure that's all I need to do. all the injector solenoids are functioning properly.
Tim answered all the questions pretty well. Sorry I had a busy day. What I was saying is you can by a S1 kit and you can rebuild the injectors stock completly. What changes is when you upgrade the intensifier pistons which isn't included in that kit. But you can also buy individual oring kits from him that are Alliant which include the copper washer. I hope that helps.
