I have the '03 version and I have replaced the bulbs with Silverstar Ultras. It is kind of a PITA if you have big hands. One thing to remember is that you can unplug the harness, then turn the black collar or ring and remove the bulb. Put the new bulb in, then put the collar on and then plug it back in. I tried to do it with the bulb plugged into the harness and the collar hanging on the wire, not very fun at all......
Next time I will just tell my 10 year old to do it, she can reach right down in there no problem.........
The Silverstar Ultras are whiter and brighter than the Sylvanias that were in there. From all I've read that will only improve with the addition of a heavy duty harness like the Dfuser one. I did not remove the batteries, part of the problem with getting my hands in there to be sure. I did it in the parking lot of Pep Boys as soon as I bought the lights so I could try them out on the way home from work. The only thing is that I'd like to update to the '05 front clip which means new headlight housings which will take different bulbs. Maybe these will fit the wife's Freestyle, I'll have to check that out once I get the update done. That's one reason why I have not added the HD harness yet.......
