Big Poppa Pump- I gotta thank you for the offer on the wheel, but I was informed it would be worse than later model surge, so it looks like I'm stuck buying a new one, but again I relly appreciate the offer.

Clux- you're a life saver!

Reps all around!! Sorry Tenn, I gotta spread more around before I hit you up again...
No problem, hope it all works out for yaa.

Clux is sending me his rebuild kit, but if I'm gonna do that I'm gonna go with a WW, as I was informed that a stock wheel on my smaller housing would cause worse surge than you late 99 and up guys already deal with.
At this point, it would be much easier to just rebuild. If you've got any questions about the rebuild, let me know, since I've been through it. Rebuild it, go with a WW, and keep saving for the conversion. It will come when the time is right.

will that rebuild kit work on the early turbo?? i know the early bird has 4 bolts holding the houseing the later has 5..i also thought the bearing was smaller.....from the sounds of the parts list you got..all you need in the plenums down on the heads and a boot kit...you need up pipes, babies butt.turbo, pedistal, spider and plenums...if my old early turbo was in good shape i would let you have that..but its not even rebuildable...sorry..wish i could help you out...

Sorry to hear about your turbo.
Sounds like that is the easy "problem" to fix and I don't envy you at all.

I just ordered a WW from Dieselsite.com, and Clux has the rebuild kit on the way, so hopefully I can get her out, rebuilt, and back in on friday, NLT saturday.

Should I need to get anything from the dealership, i.e. new band clamp for the down pipe, o-rings. etc? The last thing I want is to need some small thing and have to wait for it to get ordered.

Thanks again everyone for the immense help!

Definately get some new exhaust donuts.
Band clamp should be ok unless the truck spent some time in the rust belt. Over here they are like new 10 years later.

According to the guy I bought it from, all years of the 7.3 powerstroke turbos have the same guts-the rebuild kit will work on anything from a 94.5 to a 03.

You have to pull the turbo to get at the donuts, or pull the tranny, so get it out of the way now.
The better half would divorce you over a set of bellowed pipes? That is the permanant solution.

Isn't there a chevy donut type gasket that is available locally and cheap at any part store. Anyone remember?

Dang, I wish I'd have thought of it, I have a pair of lightly used chevy donuts too, I could have thrown them in the box.
