Transmission hiss

I'm having trouble with my transmission not engauging when shifted into Drive (O) and now I'm hearing a hissing sound when it shifts into each gear. It's now shifting hard or sliping when running down the road just hissing at each shift. Help!! anyone every heard anything like this??
