Well, it looks like I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get a new engine. The oil return journals are clogged and I can't seem to get them cleared. Some of the local mechanics claim they can do it, but the cost is about the same as a new engine.
My question to anyone with an opinion is:
Which remanufactured engine company produces the best 302 for a 1990 Ford truck?
Only an opinion as I have no first hand knowledge of them... but if I were going for a reman, I would go thru Ford... or buy one of their crate motors... I had mine rebuilt by a local speedshop for about the same as a crate motor from Ford... be vary leary of any of the remans from the likes of Autozone, Pep Boys or the like... but then again, it's all up to what you want (or can afford) to pay..
As I said.. this is only an opinion.. and we all know the saying about those..
Good luck...

Thanks Bill. I'm a bit leary about some remans also and I didn't even consider Ford. I like the look of Jasper Engines though (www.jasperengines.com).
I'm in Mobile also and I have an honest mechanic that will put it in for me for about $400. The engine itself is $1900. Man, I sure could find other things I'd like to do with that money.
