I'm getting wheels for my '02 F250 Powerstroke and plan on putting 295 or 305 tires on them. What width did most you go with I don't want it sticking out alot but at the same time still want that STANCE if you know what I mean. I like the more square look for tie and wheel combos, don't want the 295 balloned out.
Already has a leveling kit installed so clearance is not an issue. I ran 295's on the stock 7" rims.
i'd do a 10" if you're running a 295 or 305 under a leveling kit. 4.5" will be your most common backspacing, but if you find something with more backspacing, that will keep them in a little further.
Look up the tire spec for the tire you are looking at and see what rim they recommend. If you get a tire that is a 70 you may only need an 8" rim. A 65 may need a 9' or 10' rim. The tire manuf will have spec on the internet for there tire. Just do a search. Hope it helps in you question.
I thought mine were 10s but they are just 16x8s. This should give you an idea on how far your tires will stick out. These are 315/75/16s on 16x8 with 4.5" backspacing. The edge of the treat sticks out about 3/8" from the fender. I have flares to go back on it since the rebuild but haven't gotten that done yet since it doesn't really need it. I really think 10s would be too wide for anything smaller than a 315 tire.

I'm finding that out. HArdly anything has a different backspacing.
As far as the specs for the tires most call for 8 - 10" with 9" highlighted as far as recommendations. I just can't find any 16 x 9 wheels I can afford I can find 17 X 9 but those tire prices jump considerably.
TEXICAN,
I love your truck.
CARTMANEA,
that's the profile I'm looking for so those are 8's?? hummm
Yep, they measure to the inside of the bead area, so they are almost 9" on the outside of the wheel. The 315/75/16s aren't really a 12.50 tire either, the treat face is about 10.5" wide. I think if you get a 10" wheel with a 295 or 305 it will look silly.
Travis, how do you like those KM2s? I'm torn between those and Toyo MTs.
I love em so far! I've got about 3,000 miles so far. I have had em in rocks and dirt, they did awesome, had em in deep snow, not so good....they dig down really fast, and I never had a chance to drive on ice....the season was pretty much over once I got them. They are pretty loud on the highway.......but look at them, they are MEATY! The Toyo's are a great tire too definitely.....but it seems every other truck on the road runs them these days. These BFG's are much better then the old mudders IMO. Sorry for the
Silver Stroke what kind of price range are you looking for? I just ordered a set of MM951 chrome 16x9 (I know everybodies got em, but I'm on a budget also) $654.00 shipped to the door. Cheapest I found!
Travis, looks like I'll go with the Toyos, they seem to be the only 315/75/16 with an E load rating.
The load range D has scared more then a few guys away that's for sure.....BUT.....in the 315/75/16 size, the D range tires have a higher rating them the STOCK E rated tires. That tells me they are safe, lots and lots of guys stay with stock tires and tow maximum lbs I tow with mine, and no probs at all
