Cost to Paint?
I need to have my truck repainted. It is black and looks really good when clean but along the bottom of the truck the previous owner painted over some rust with a cheap paint and it is faded and looks like s***. How much would it cost to get it repainted in the factory black color. I want it to look good too, no drips and no orange peel. Thanks
I have a buddy with an older Dodge dually that just had his truck repainted becuz the factory paint was flaking off of the hood and the top.
He went to a place called Miracle Auto paint, Kinda like Earl Schiebe used to be. His truck was a metallic tan and when he got it back It was one of the best paint jobs I have seen in along time.
Price? $325.00

I think it depends more on what you consider "good" than anything else. If you take it to a high end body shop expecting it to be perfect, then you should also expect to spend up towards $3000 on it.
My experience with $300 paint jobs is you get exactly what you pay for.....however, if you do your own body work, trim removal, masking, etc. and deliver it in the condition that it only needs to be sprayed, then the results are generally pretty decent. The biggest problems with the "fast food" paint shops is they spend next to no time on the detail work, and that is what makes a paint job. They look good from a distance, but you can see every bit of all the stuff you don't want to see up close.

I got quoted from a really good friend who paints nothin but hi end cars. I wanted to change my color completly from green to blue, he told me that no one would ever know it was green by the time he was done with it. the price.....$4,000. Obviously stickin with the same color is gonna be cheaper but I also believe you pay for what you get. My grandfather went to Maaco to get a paint job cheap, they didnt even wash his car before they sprayed.

I did this with a '66 Bronco I used on my deer lease. Earl Schiebe painted a friend of mine's son car and it looked good. I asked what they would charge to paint a Bronco he said best paint job was $325. I brought it to them as a bare body. No lights, door handles, or wipers. They painted the body, hardtop, doorjambs, and the inside of the doors for $325.
My thought was for $325 I'll paint it every year. Put it back together and sent it the lease. It came home once a year for PM and a wash. Sold it five years later (in 1996) with that same paint job. No fading, chipping, or peeling.
I saw the Bronco about two years ago and the paint is still holding up.
I have a K30 that will get the same treatment as soon as I finish the flatbed and Subarban tank installed.
For you guys in the Dallas area the Earl Schiebe store I used was on Forest near Jupiter in Garland.

personaly i would just paint it myself, its not hard to spray a car, the prep is the hard part, but also what makes or breaks a paint job, a good air dryer an hlpv gun and a positive pressure air mask. any minor imperfections will come out with a wetsand and buff for a show quality finnish, but get a good quality paint. dupont has some pretty good stuff, if your looking for cheep there nason series is pretty cheep and iv had some very good results from it.
