I have a skid plate on my rear gas tank still, but its coming off this summer. I may have way more ground clearance, but I know that when I hit stuff, its always going to be the axle or driveshaft first.
alex skid plates are like chrome,they dont get u home.i agree with u dont use them,just save ur money for a nice lift kit and tires.good luck with whatever u decide.
Most of my off-roading is on the beach so plates are really something that is bad ... Makes great places to hold salty sand ... A real pain to hose clean even with the pressure washer tapped into the hot water heater ...
