OEM Tube side step inserts

Greetings to all......

One of the black step inserts on my chrome tube style running boards fell off the other day and the dealer said that I would have to replace the whole rail, they can't get just the insert.....wtf!
Does anyone know where I can get one? None of the boneyards around here has any. I would prefer new anyways. My truck is an 02' F250 SD Crew Cab.

Thanks a million...
Mike

I check mine every once and awhile because they seem like they want to come out. Good luck on the caps.

From what it looks like to me, it seems they are held in with something similar to what you would screw your liscense plate bolts into. I tried to remove the rear passenger insert to put in place of the one I lost(drivers) and all that happened is the screws loosened but would not come out and would not tighten back downagain, now I have loose insert that I am going to somehow have to secure. Keeps me busy, I guess!

Maybe just tap the ones you do have in there and put a nice light bead of crazy glue around the lip, maybe that would help. You got me to go out and look at mine last night and thats what i,m going to do. If i run across one i'll pm you and i'll pop it in the mail for yaa.

What type of steps do you have. I have back country on my 04. I lost one of the steps and was able to get one.

I have the OEM Ford chrome tube steps....

Big Poppa - I like your idea, unfortunatly I can't even get the screws out of the right rear step now, they won't tighten or loosen, just spin freely. Today I am going to try and pry up on thge insert while turning the screws and see if I can get them out that way. Thanks everybody!
