where are my engine numbers?
Hello friends. I am starting on my first project. A 55 ford f100 truck. I bought this truck for $800 last week. Here is my dilema.
I dont know who had this truck before me, but there is what I think is a 302 ci engine in it. The wiring is THRASHED, and there is lots of work to be done. In order to get the proper parts, I need to know what make the engine came out of. The engine # is 8K550263. There is also another # on the intake manifold, but I cant see it now. It ends with 78.(dark and raining at the moment)
Anybody know what these #'s mean if anything, and if not, where would the correct #'s be?

Ok, after many an hour searching the archives, I finally found the numbers, and got the correct parts. I have a 1978 302ci, 5.0 liter, v8. This is a nightmare project ( the previous owner was obviously a tweeker) and screwed up a lot of things, mainly the wiring.Good ole enginuity.
