Has anyone added a decent snow plow to their excursion, have 04 that is used for merely ski trips and hauling crap on the weekends....figure as long as its going to sit around it might as well be useful for something else. And what about the newer "non metal" types of plows, ie lightweight plastic or fiberglass (or something) meaning I could possibly put it on myself? Had a good meyer blade years ago on a bronco but it was too much work to try to put on and off and ended up just never putting it back on there....Thanks, Mike
The new western ultramounts are VERY easy to install. Put a couple adapters with 1 pin on the front of the truck and drive into the blade and pull one pin on each side and a big hook flips down and your ready to pick it up and drive. The pump and frame and all is part of the blade. It all comes off in one big piece. Very convenient! We use these at my work when we plow our lots, one person can easily install and remove the plow.
Friend had a polycarbonate blade and when he broke it it was nearly a week to get replacement parts even in a big city like chicago. All the people I have talked to have told me to go with a westrn as all the shops have any part you can need for them in stock. You WILL break parts, and being down for a few days after a big storm can mean thousands in lost revenue.
I put a Boss Standard Duty 7.5' on my X a few years ago. Smart hitch system works great, on and plowing in 10 minutes. Just pull up to it, flip it up, plug it in and off u go.
Mine came with a Western 7.5" Pro Plow Unimount. I do a few drive and it works pretty well. I has the Joy stick, corded controller. Once I got the hang of it, it came off and went on easy enough.

Thats the same plow I put on my pickup last fall, except for the smart hitch system. Still doesnt take much to hook it up or unhook.
