Did some swapping today and ended up with a flatbed and rear differential from a 1966 F250. This was a former Air Force vehicle and I'm curious if anyone knows if the flatbed, which is stamped FORD on the rear metal frame, and has a wooden floor, was a factory option? Also, the diff tag reads C6TA-A 602763-3 not sure if this is a Dana 60 or something else. PO did not know, only that when he bought brakes he was told this was a"heavy duty" version of the 60. It has what appears to be very large brake drums. I wasn't smart enough to remember to write down his vin tag info, sorry. I'm planning on replacing the bed on a 63 F100 with the flatbed, but don't think the gas shortage, or my wallet, would be helped by the 4.56 rear end!
It definately sounds like the flatbed is a genuine Ford piece...option...I dont think so as Ford offered the trucks in a few different body styles aside from the styleside...the flatbed(stake is what I believe they called it back in the day) is a factory piece...not a dealer add on ...keep that pup...as for the rear end...Im not sure...see what you can find out about the door tag and I will do a bit of digging and see what I come up with...
Thanks for the info, will definitely be keeping the flatbed, despite the sun rotted wood, it is a solid peice of construction! Do you happen to know if there is some site that decodes the diff tag? I have checked a lot of the posts on this site and seen reference to doing this but not sure where you go. I'm just curious to find out exactly what it is. Thanks again.

Welcome to FTE
Post whatever numbers you find off your Dana-Spicer differential tag.
Whether it's 7 numbers (like 601010-1) or the Ford type code (like C6TA-AA), I can decode it.
There were two types of Ford flatbed letters. The early beds are in Ford script, the later type is individual block letters: F O R D.
The bed looks just like yours with the block script. Pretty sure it is from the 66 era. Has wood flooring and at some point someone welded a piece of diamond plate on it to cover a hole. We will probably try to replace the wood at some point. I posted the diff tag numbers in my original post. I have since scraped about 40+ years of grease and dirt off. Found the Dana 60 mark on the diff web, there are also some other numbers. I'll write them down and post them later today. Thanks again for the help!
Any idea if this is full floater, semi-floater and does it make much difference one way or another? I appreciate any info you can give and thanks for all the help!
