'96' Aerostar at 35 to 45 miles an hour the steering wheel shakes or vibrates pretty significantly. Above 45 it goes away and the vehilce drives smoothly as ever. Below 35 it is barely noticable. Probably a front end problem? Wheels are all tight and very recently had the tires balanced because of the vibration. Could this simply be a alignemnt issue or is it probably something else? Looking for some ideas and thanks for trhe help.
You may have a damaged tire or bent rim. Could have way out alignment but the tires would be gone unless it just happened. Did they rotate tires? If not swap to the back..
Let an experience technician drive it and diagnose it. Aero brake rotors warp, tires go bad, etc. It's hard to diagnose from here. They'll check it and tell you what's wrong, probably for free. Then go fix it yourself if you're so inclined....
I recently had this problem solved. It turned out to be bad tires (on the REAR). Go to a proper tire expert & get the tires checked for out of round condition & all 4 should be balanced. The best balanced tire in the world will not run smooth if is the shape of an egg!!
