Hello, I have a 2000 Ranger XLT with what I presume is the factory alarm. It usually chirps twice when I press lock on the key fob. It's not the horn chirping but rather an electronic sounding bleep bleep. Well, today I disconnected my battery for a while when I cleaned my air filter. After reconnecting the battery, all that happens when I press lock on the key fob is the doors lock. No chirp at all. I noticed a spot for a fuse from a wire from the positive battery terminal to the relay for the alarm. The fuse was blown so I replaced it. Still no alarm. Any ideas?
Thanks for the response. I do have the large PATS key but this has nothing to do with that, I don't think. I must have something aftermarket. I looked over everything again and found two little plastic boxes taped together each with a fuse with the whole thing under the steering column. I pulled out both fuses to check them and when the last one went it, the alarm started going off. It must have reset it or something cause everything's working now. Not sure why that reset it and disconnecting the battery didn't but I'm happy cause it's working now. Thanks for the help.
