Harness for cigar lighter

Can anyone discribe where the harness that connects to the cigar lighter is located and what it looks like on a 78 F250 2wd. I've gone through all the wiring and I can not find a line to attach to it. The passanger side dome light switch is also not triggering the light, and I know these are on the same circuit, so I think I may be missing the harness. I have looked at all of the wires going into the ignition switch and heater controls, and have also found the switched 12V and illumination 12V for radio, but nothing that appears to be for the lighter. There is a flat three pin connector up where the glove box light should be with two green/blue wires in it, but nothing to hook it to. PO butchered some of the wiring for a stereo install and I am not sure if he removed what I am looking for.

This is where it plugs into, or rather where the harness extention plugs into to continue the wiring to the lighter.

According to my wiring diagram, the colors are Green/Yellow. The harness extention has the extra plugs you need, to hook up the glove box lamp and lighter.

The ford Wiring diagrams, state...

Connector #706, (the one you located for the glove box lamp) plugs into the harness extention (which you don't have and need) then the green/yellow wire splits and continues to Connector #707 for the Glove box lamp, and connector #708 for the lighter.

So you need to find a donor truck with a cigar lighter in it to get this harness extention.

hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. I'm sure the wire color is Green/Yellow, starting to suck not being able to rely on my memory. Hopefully when I find a harness I can get the glove box light as well. I need to find a set of factory manuals as well.

Green/yellow is courstey lights. Cigar lighter is on a separate circuit. I'll look mine up tomorrow and get back to you.

From what I could find it shows the dome light, hood light, glove box light, courtsey lights, and cigar lighter on the same curcuit. Below are some pics I got from a post from Mil1ion I found doing a search. I love the things you can find on this site.

No it's not, it's on the same circut as the courtesy lamps.

This is according to Ford factory wiring diagrams.

Now 1980 and newer is a different kettle of fish.

Looked some images up...yup. Could've sworn the cigar light wire was orange, not yellow/green.
