my truck is a 88 f150 inline 6. truck has been running fine until i started to hear the trucks engine through the radio. the idling of the truck would come through on the radio. truck sometimes takes forever to start, it will crank but not turn over. once its started it usually starts up pretty good after you shut it off as long as it doesn't sit for over an hour or so.
IF you turn the key in the forward position the noise through the radio gets worse when the truck isn't started. the noise basically sounds like the radio is skipping. and after a while will lose power and just shut off. i have no clue whats going on. Please ask me any questions that i could answer to help find out whats going on.
things i know are working:
1 . fuel pump can hear it.
2. solenoid on engine bay wall replace recently
3. sparks were replaced a couple of weeks ago
4. ignition coil was replace within the last couple years.
could these ideas cause the engine to not start right away.
And then some.......... Find one of your ground straps (there's one close to the starter) and you'll see why. Best thing to do is get a few ready made ones or make your own from some heavy gauge wire with connectors that you can bolt in place. Not the chincy expansion clips that are on the originals.
forgot to ask the ground that the engine goes through is that the wire that connects to the negative side of the battery. then goes down to the starter?
