I saw this in the junk yard a couple of weeks ago, and I just assumed it was aftermarket.
Well, I was walking through the yard again today and someone had already taken it off the steering column. So, I picked it up off the floor and looked at it more closely and I see that there are factory FORD and part numbers molded into it.
Can someone tell me what this originally came on? I don't have the part numbers handy, but I can get them if it would help.
I'm guessing it's a sport wheel from something or another. I started cleaning off the surface rust off of the spokes and my friend that owns a leather shop said he can easily re-dye it black. He did a small spot on the back, and it came out really nice.
I can tell you that Ford had a sport steering wheel option that looked an awful lot like that that came on 1970's Mustangs, trucks, and I think some Mavericks. I've definitely seen it before and it is OEM.
On the inside of the wheel itself, there is a part number but I can't read the first few numbers:
0W-3D758-BWA 8
Maybe Number Dummy or someone else can help identify?
Thanks again.
There should be two characters in front of that, the first letter designates the decade d=70's e=80's and the second number would be for the year (0-9)
Could be from just about any 70's to 80's ford. I've seen alot in capri's and mustangs, a few in granadas.

EDIT: kinda hard to see but this wheel looks similar to the one you've got, I've got better pictures somewhere but I just did a quick look through my pile of sales lit and found this one. If I remember tonight I'll take a better look. (on another note I found a pile of 1980 ford truck service booklets I didnt even know I had!)
Yeah, I can't read the first couple of numbers because they are hidden by the metal spokes and the plastic ring doesn't come off to gain access to it.
I did some research last night and the numbers off the horn button didn't tell me much. That same number shows up for nearly all 60's through late 70's Fords.
I don't really care too much what it came off of because I'm going to be putting it in my truck. I want to paint the spokes black first though, and I didn't want to mess up what could possibly be a valuable piece to someone that needed one for a restoration.
Reproduction horn buttons go for about $100 just by itself.
