im needing to rebuild my 390. im having a few problems finding aftermarket parts for it. i see parts for 351 428 and 460. im trying to find out if the block is shared with any other engine out there. i heard the old 360 had the same block but hard to find parts for it too.
The 428 is the same block externally as the 390. They use the same cams and valve train pars. Stock 428 heads are the same as stock 390 heads. 428CJ heads will fit but have bigger valves and ports. The rods are the same, but cranks are different as are flywheels and dampers. Dist., water pumps, oil pumps, fuel pumps and starts all fit. Intakes fit but you have to pay attention to port sizes. Headers may or may not fit as to 390 GT and 428CJ heads having a staggered bolt pattern instead of vertical.
ok thanx im not sure if im going to need heads or not but im looking for cams and headers etc. thanx for the info i was wondering bout that.

summitracing.com has rebuild kits for 390s, whats nice about that site is you can search by engine. also ebay has good rebuild kits for 390s for around 350-400 including pistons i believe
