engine trouble light when fuel is low
My brother has a 96 ford ranger, standard, 2wd, with 200,000 miles on it. His trouble light has been coming on for the past few months, but will go out when he fills is up with gas. When his tank gets down to around 1/4 tank it goes back on. He hasn't taken it to autozone to get the codes checked, so figured I'd check here to see if you guys have seen this before.

Kinda sounds like he may have confused the "Check Gauge" light, with a trouble light.
If he's down to 1/4 tank or lower & parked on a slope, the low fuel level in the tank, may be causing the "Check Gauge" light to come on, if his ride is so equipped.
