Don't worry....I had the same problem on my '03 F30 SRW 4x4. They gave the a rotor, I got home, yanked everything apart and went to slide the new rotor on.....hummmm.....wrong damned size! Called them (I think it was Advance Auto) and they said that was the right one. I invited them down to my house to see for themselves (they declined the invite). Regardless, I returned it and went to O'Reilly. They listed 2 different ones for my truck, but I now knew which was the right one based on the measurement I took of the old one.
I never had to worry about that. As far as I know for 4x4 there are two rotors and early one and late one. Same with bearings.. Never heard of getting axle numbers..I'm sure it has to do with 2wd and dual rear wheel and all that. Dana 50 fronts had 2 versions of rotor. IMO

Uh huh...yeah right.
Since I can read a parts catalog, I know that Ford lists 5 different rotors for '99 F250's with 4WD, you obviously do not.
You ougtta look in the 1990/2002 Ford Light Truck Parts Catalog sometime (Section 30 / Page 13)
Ford shows 5 different rotors for 99 F250's with 4WD and 4 different rotors for 99 F350's with 4WD.
2WD's are a snap, because with 2WD, the parts are listed separately under the front rotor Ford basic part number (1102). Takes 10 seconds to find the number.
With 4WD, Ford lists rotors and related parts ONLY in the front drivingaxle parts lists, and there are 4 different parts lists that apply to 4WD '99 and later F250/350's.
So...to determine which rotor is correct, the front axle tag number is a must.
If one has the tag, that's just ducky, without it...one has to know ALL that info I typed in post #3, and most ppl when they come to parts counters don't have that info.
Swing by your local dealer, ask the partsguy for a front rotor for a '99 F350 with 4WD. The first thing he's gonna say is.."Do you have the front axle tag number?"
I've been doing this for say 5000 posts mostly in the sd area and never heard of this. I have bought rotors for my truck and never had a problem. There are two choices and don't need axle number at carquest or napa..So there ....LOL only kidding! I'm being honest I just never had an issue and never heard of one. 99 f250 with dana 50 up front there are only two rotors early and late..

Well...if there's only two rotors as you say, why did the OP after he received two different ones come here and say both were incorrect?
I haven't a klew what the aftermarket sector does, but there are four front axle parts lists in the 1990/2002 parts catalog showing 5 different rotors for 4WD '99/ F250's.
Notice my post count, and the length of time I've been here on FTE.
I spent over 35 years as a Ford parts man, so I ain't just whistlin' Dixie.
How many years of Ford experience do you have?
I listed the parts catalog refs in a previous post...take them to your local dealer and see for yourself.
btw:...Sorry, my apologies.....I do NOT mean to come across as a SOB (it comes naturally after spending yrs doing this scheiss).
Ppl with no Ford experience, and who've never looked in Ford parts catalogs have NO klew the amount of info one needs to get correct parts numbers.
I'm cool with everyone. Its just usually we are talking regular f250 SRW 4x4..99 SD.
Now there's a 99 non super duty they made both models for that year.
There's a dual rear wheel 4x4 which had a different front axle. D 60 maybe f350
How about the f250 med duty f150 style.
early b4 3/99 SD
Later after 3/99 SD
Any aftermarket online place will show 2 rotors for my truck and thats it B4 and after 3/99. I suppose some of the parts guy's or applications could be screwed up..Maybe its me. LOL
