Finally installed Exhaust!

I finally installed my 5" MKO, I am impressed with the results, dropped EGT less than I thought it would but got more Turbo boost than I expected and I can feel a diff. It only took a couple of hours and one terrible injury to my ribs! I went to throw my old exhaust in the bed of my sons truck, one of the hangers hit me in the side as the exhaust was flying by! Knocked the wind right outta me, thought I broke a rib!
I've replaced enough exhaust systems in cars with nothing but a sound difference. I can say that I wish I used the straight pipe instead of the muffler though.

Looks nice Dave. I bet it sounds nice too. First test is to go through a drivetrough and see if anyone on the other side of the speaker can actually hear you. If they tell you to shut off your truck, that's how you know it sounds good.

You really should be more careful throwin stuff around. Ouch!

It really isn't as loud as I'd like, I'm really thinking about pulling the muffler. It just has a rumble to it, but if I put my windows down and go down the road, can't really even hear it. I hear the turbo a lot better. Even at idle, it's just quiet.

I have the same system with the muffler. I do get plenty of whistle. You could try reversing the muffler to get a little more whistle.

If you have not already noticed the rattling of the washers, on the hangers, you will. Just tack weld them to the hanger to stop the rattling.

Good job! Sorry to hear about the accident though. Got a couple of "dings" myself getting in a hurry. Be careful and congrats again on a job well done.

Nothin beats a muff delete...may even bring your EGT's down a bit more.. But be prepared for a bit more noise. If you like the quiet as you drive down the road, you might consider keeping the muffler. If my passenger side window is down while I am driving down the road, I can't hear myself think.

Good job Dave. I guess your old exhaust didn't like the idea of being replaced and decided to get one last lick on you. I have the SS MBRP 4" with the muffler in place. I think it sound good enough with muffler installed.

Put the muffler delete pipe on and see how it sounds.

I'll see, not sure if it's worth the trouble right now to do the muffler delete. I almost knew I didn't want the muffler though, I started the truck with just the dp and the next section of pipe and liked it!

I was wondering if my egt would drop even more without the muffler? I guess it would make sense that it would though.

I think you're right Rick, that old exhaust took a heck of a last shot at me!

I have the SS MBRP w/ muffler also. I like the sound. Getting to old for all that noise. Get enough of that at work. I enjoy the peace and quiet at home.

Like me, getting old. Looking inside the muffler, it is 4" open all the way through. Don't even know how it would work. With all the pulling I do, I am happy with the muffler.

Opening up the exhaust is a great thing. Congrats on the install minus the bu bu. Take a nice ride with the windows open and you will heal faster.

Yep -- looks nice!! I have trouble at drive-throughs about 30% of the time -- frustrates the crap out of me. Then I realize that it's because the truck sounds so good...
