Photos of Installed Headlights / Tail Lights..

Here's some I snapped today, finally figured out how to make a "gallery" and then move the pictures over...thanks for your help on this guys...

As a note, I have not experienced any moisture problems as others have commented on - maybe I am just lucky, it's been about 6 mos. since these were put on the truck. On the rears, we did remove the rubber gasket from the factory lights and use it instead of what came with these, it just fit more snuggly. I added a socket for the top light of the rear as my 04 only had 2 rear sockets on each side, and added LEDs. I have the clear / white LEDs to put in the bottom for the reverse lights but have just been to lazy to do it as its a little of a pain to remove these with the light guards on there also.

Ciao.

Mike

Thumbs up halo projector

I have the Halo projector lights that are shown in this thread for sale at MTR. I love them. I put in silverstar bulbs and strobes. There is quite a bit of cutting to make them fit. I don't even know if I'll be able to get my stock lights to fit back in or not. Not that I plan on puting them back in. I bought mine for (pair)$108 plus S/H. at AFTERMARKETDIRECT. Most places are selling them for more than $300(pair).

Nice!

Clear's definately the choice for me as my truck is a green Limited,
but they'll be that style of lights.

Damn they look good on your truck.

The Ex I was going to pick up before I got my Ex a couple of weeks ago was an '02 Black Limited.

Here's the ones I switched to about a year ago.

I had the projector style and they yellowed over time and were a pain to mount with the cheap set screws.

These were way easier to deal with.

If you have ANY yellow light on, that can be seen from the rear, other than, again, TURN SIGNAL, you are just ASKING for a "equipment check" stop.

As for headlights, be sure they do not shine in oncoming traffic. You blind a law officer in many jurisdictions either with YOUR hi beams, AND/ or with illegal headlamps, and, again, you are JUST asking for an "equipment check" stop.

In some jurisdictions, blinding headlamps WILL get your car impounded and towed to some local garage, where you can find out how much it will cost to get the car "repaired to meet the vehicle code", and then released....! Why go out with a "chip on your shoulder"...looking for trouble ? Dosnt make sense to me.

Bottom line, last time I checked, stock factory production lighting equipment, both front and rear, on Excursions, meets all federal and state lighting standards. Anyone ever heard the expression "IF IT AINT BROKE..DONT TRY AND 'FIX' IT.." ?
STFU.

Read the damn thread why donchya!? I put a darn picture up of the light as well. Your "holier than thou" attitude is getting old.

Love 'em. And your truck looks sweet.

Do you rememeber the manufacturer, or where you got them?

Thanks much,

Thanks for the reply. I have been checking some out on eBay and there are a few that look like that. I do want to get the black ones since that is the color of my truck.

Have a good one!

Relax -I am NOT a purist - NOT opposed to "mods". Just jealous of you guys who can afford to go make changes just for appearance. I am retired on a fixed income, so what dollars I have, go to "mods" that provide ME with some benefit.

Thanks to you guys helping out on this excellent forum, by the time I actually picked up my "new" Excursion, I knew EXACTLY what I was getting into, and what the vehicle needed to make it useful for my purposes ( towing heavy loads - meaning around 11,000 lbs). You guys have me thinking about changing the springs - obviously the stock "spring rate" is WAY too soft for the ONE of the tasks this vehicle was supposedly designed for (hauling) (why didnt they have one version of the EX labled "Soccer Mom Special" so guys like me wouldnt bother even LOOKING at them...!).

Obviously, one drive home from the dealer convinced me how right you guys were on the handling issue, so one of the first thngs it got were "load leverl" air bags and a sway bar on the rear. ( Wonder how many soccer moms, even as "dittzy" as so many of them are, noticed....an d decided NEVER to buy another Ford product based on the sloppy handling of the bone-stock EX). ? ?

My generation had a lot of car buffs in it - I personally worked on a number of "hot rod" projects where the guy wanted something that "looked cool". Never understood it personally - but, as you say "different stroke for different folk"....I personally enjoyed the "rich pickins" amongst the cute girls in my high school class, who were bored and annoyed that their boy-friends were out doing goofy things with their cars......!

But, to stay on topic, I think the warnings in my "post" were well-taken. Please remember it is a REAL safety issue if you "blind" oncoming traffic, and you COULD get into a LOT of trouble.

O.K., so you guys can afford to go changing out perfectly adequate headlights, just because YOU think it looks "cool". Yeah, that's it, add "jealousy" to the list of reasons why I wouldn't bother - have other uses for my limited funds.

So, please concentrate on my WARNING about being CAREFUL with how you set up those ultra bright headlights. If I wanted to "show you guys a thing or two" I could mount the same lights I have as landing lights on my aircraft, that are so bright they'd make that after-market stuff you guys buy, look like candles. Talk about BLINDING people - I could STERALIZE you guys from an eighth of a mile away. Then, if a cop saw us, we'd BOTH lose our EX's !

Why would you "give a warning"? You said yourself that you have not tried them. Do you know if they are brighter? Are they better then stock? Have you tried more then one brand? Do you know if they are dot approved?

No?

Then don't warn about nothing. leave it to those that have money into it. You clearly don't know so that makes you a "don't know"

Thats a jealous statement if I've ever heard one..... "Oh theres no reason to do that"....." Oh but I could do this and get you all!!!"

The "oh but I could" statements from a Don't know......
