I worked for a local Ford dealership for 3yrs and Ford has bought back our franchise as of 2 weeks ago..I am laid off for now..anyone local to central MA need any car or truck work?? I am a Ford diesel master tech as well as an ASE master and can work on all domestics and Asian vehicles..thanks.
Too bad we closed down, an 8miles commute was nice.
Ford closed a lot of the small dealers already. LS
yep, they want to close about 50% over the next few years so they have less dealers and more profits like honda and toyota...so if your truck is broken it will be a 60miles tow to the dealership.
I am sorry to hear of your situation. It's never fun to have to look for work. Unfortunately, it's the thing I want to happen to me. I need out of this career so bad it hurts, but don't want to "quit" since that's one of the things I don't do.

same here, I was ready for a change anyways and I was not going to quit unless something better came along, I was looking for a few months and in this business due to the economy there were only lateral moves at best..
That is really a bummer, sorry to hear about your job loss -- they closed one of our area's small dealerships a few months back as well.
With the ever increasing sophistication of the newer diesels, and the stories we hear on FTE of poor diagnosis of problems by some dealer's techs, I bet a good tech should land another spot in no time. Sure wish you were out in CA...
Move up to Canada, come work for the Ford dealer in my town, biggest Ford truck dealer in Canada. Only Takes 7 minutes to drive from one end of the city to the other!

Good luck to you.
you are correct, a good tech is worth all the money and should be able to get a good job..problem is that all diesels are under warranty, ford does not pay anywhere close the time to properly diagnose and/or repair them-especially on certain problem vehicles and the dealership wants them done very fast and will not pay you properly to do a good job and as a result the customers w/ problem vehicles may have repeat visits and repairs due to guessing the first time in..
it is not right, I do not agree w/ it but that's the way the car business is.. rush rush rush and then they blame you if it takes too long to diagnose a a concern and if it comes back.. ohh man they blame you all the way even though they rushed you the first time in..
the main issue is the car business is all flat rate pay, not hourly or salary as most professions.causing the dealership and techs to rush to make more money, if we were all paid by the hour it work work much better and problem vehicles would be fixed properly the first time..
