transfer case for drivetrain swap

I'm doing a swap on a 1980 jeep cj7. it currently has a 4.2 inline six, 3 speed manual transmission and dana 20 transfer case. Its going to have an efi 302 and an np435 transmission. I need to know if there is a transfer case that will bolt to the np435 and also has a passenger side drop so i can retain the stock front axle. i know there is a kit to adapt the np435 to a dana 20, but its on the expensive side. is there any passenger side drop t-case with the 6 bolt circular pattern and 31 spline input? sorry for the long post and thanks for any help.

so the chevy np205 will mate with the np435 even though the np435 has 31 splines and i think the np205 has 32? Ive read that it will if the input is short. i'll check on teh specs for it but just wondered if anyone knew off-hand. also will the chevy 6 bolt pattern be the same as the ford? sorry bout the ford np205, if i had one i'd be holding onto it as i'm planning on swapping my np208 for one. you should be able to find one easy though. there pretty abundant here and cheap.

not sure on the spline count, I'll look into it, I just know if your looking for a p-side drop, they have em. why not try to find a D300? AA and novak have the adapters for about $510.

BTW, in the same boat. I'm doing a 351w/np435 swap into a YJ with a cj clip and tailgate. just wanted less rust and a galvanized, boxed.

the dana 300 is out due to that $500+ adapter price. The chevy np205 has a 6 bolt pattern('86 and up) that looks like an offset version of the ford so the only problem would be making custom shifters which is no problem. I did find that they came with 32 splines. Input shafts are in the long form only which rules out putting the 31 spline np435 shaft in. Is it possible to pull the female input out of the chevy and put a ford input in?

check pirate4x4.com I'm sure someone on the forum over there can answer that. I have never had a chevy 205 apart

the site was having maintanance done, I'll tell you the concensus will be to go with an adapter and D300.

I already went through this. although I think if you already have the D20, use it. they are good t-cases

thanks for posting that for me. Thats what i was thinking was to go with the dana 20 if i even did stick with a jeep t-case. why buy a new one? the 302 won't be that powerful. But the adapter is absolutely out, WAY too expensive for a chuck of metal. Unless i can find a chevy np205 for cheap that i can experiment with, i'm probably going to be using the stock jeep 3-speed and adapting it to the 302. Sucks that i cant use the np435, but what ya gonna do.

might be worth the money to be able to use the np435, lowest first gear out there

well, if it were mine i would try to make the np435 work. But the jeep is a friends and he is cheap, so we're most likely going with the 3 speed mated to the 302. Not the best choice i know, but its gotta be cheap as he is building a house and has a baby on the way.
