I'm not at all interested in mounting my ScanGauge II over the top of my mirror, but I am interested in anything that anyone has created as an alternative mounting solution that demonstrates craftsmanship and a sense of style... I'm prototyping one such alternative now, but my initial material selection was BAD! Closed-cell foam is really easy to work with, but it just doesn't have the surface strength to withstand the pressure. This initial design was a bit of a loose fit to the dash contour, so I'll be cutting BIG next time... Material selection is next on the list. I'll also keep the mount depth thickness down a bit to allow for the of the double-sided tape, and/or Velcro.
I plan on getting me a Scan Gauge in the future. My plan is to utilize the open din in my aftermarket Stereo insert, under my deck.
Should fit great, I'll just have to drill a small hole for the wire and figure out how to close up the sides for a clean install. I hate that there is nothing in that space!

I saw several Taco's and Titans done like that... It was the only good looking thing on the trucks!
Post them pics when you get it done! If I ever get rid of the stock head-unit, I may go that way too...
Ozx, I thought that location was a little low for frequent monitoring. So I was thinking about the flat area to the right side of the column, above the AC vent, for either the Scangauge or other monitor. Haven't decided which one is right for me yet.
Anyway, this mount product was one I was thinking about. Some velcro on this basic mount would hang just about anything, and it's up at eye level, while still below the dash top. So, it's an idea to toss around. See the "tools" link below. Bill
Bill-
Good food for thought; Thanks! The contours on my '04 dash are a lot more rolling than the '05+ trucks. That area on my dash is far more challenging to fit to. I had my eye on it though! When I refit the gauge with a more durable mounting material, I'm going to move it up about 3/4" just below the fuel gauge.
Cheers-
Brian
Got my Scangauge II ordered. Will post up pics when install is complete in 3-4 days...
Evan-
The dimensions of the ScanGaugeII are 4.8" wide by 1.5" high. The dimensions of standard removable media bay is 5.8" wide by 1.5" high. Kind of gives a guy some ideas on where to start looking for bezel material to clean up the install, doesn't it? Take a look at your old computer parts...
OZX3+1,
Will the ScanGauge II display boost? I want to install a boost gauge but I don't want to use the pillar gauge panels because I don't want to remove the pillar handle. The ScanGauge II would be perfect.
I didn't... Running both of them now. The SGII gives a lot of information that I can't get from the Commander.
EDIT:I wish I saved my $$ to just get a Phalanx...

Nope... No boost on the SGII, but you can get it on the Quadzilla Commander and NOT lose your grab-handle. That's how I'm setup.

I cant believe how lucky I got buying the dashdaq a couple months ago; I never thought Matt would turn it into his new tuner. Now I can't wait til the tunes/software come out. And the egt probe.
My prototype mount failed, as expected, but I am not deterred! I'll just build the production mount out of something reasonable...
My findings on the X-Gauge options for the Super Duty is lack-luster... The following is a list of advanced PID's that I've gotten to work so far:
Horsepower @ the crank (max so far, ASE tune, 470 BHP) so there's less to the dirt, of course.
Torque into torque converter (My max is 510) so there's more going to the dirt after the converter and transmission get done with it.
Fuel Pump Duty Cycle (always 100%, so of no worth)
Fuel Level (% of stated last fill-up remaining) Not stable while driving
Transmission Gear ratio (Ratio of RPM in to out) Kina' cool
6.0L Diesel Transmission Temperature (reads 30*f hotter than my Commander! I don't trust this value.)
Keep in mind that these are above the standard gauges on the SGII, but not all of those report either. I'm OK with the gauge, but still wish I had more foresight on this stuff.
