hi ivstang...your right about the headers...i had my notes crossed...i ment to say dart head...from the flow reserch that i have done wedge's (r) out of the box wiil hold about 580 hp without no porting...i dont agree with you about the pedastals though...i understand thats what they were saying...i think the problem was also the wrong guides...now they use bronze, before they did not...on the camshafts today being that so many manufactors have so many diferant grinds available, why would you nead a custom grind...they even have them for jr. dragsters now...i used to use lunatti untill holley bought them out and there quality control kinda took a nose dive...then i went to comp and a freid of mine gave me a core (before grind) and told me to indicate it...there was 0.15 to 0.30 diference...so now we decided for all the money we have in our power plants we switched and went to ultra dyne...alot more money but more presice grind...this is a off the wall queation but since your name has stang in it, do you know how much a 67 mustang fastback would weigh stock...have a nice nite
migraine

'67-70 anything fastback Mustang is a dream of mine. Right now it's a '97 Cobra that's pretty much stock save for Borlas, K&N and Chrome Cobra R's.(FOR SALE!!!) and '84 hatch with AOD/stallion converter and mild 351. As far as custom grinds go, this guy supposedly takes the head that you've had ported or he ports and will grind the cam to the head's flow characteristics. I'll agree on an uncut after market head with known flow with an off the shelf cam but I believe this takes it one step futher.

I actually had a first year set of TW heads. To make a long story short Ford gave me a new LONG block on my '95 GT because of a known casting/excess foundry sand problem that was causing overheating. I had my GT-40 intake/TW heads etc. installed at this time. I was going to do it myself but I trusted the Ford tech(big mistake) and let him do it. The car ticked from day one and I was told it was the roller rockers. I raced this car and beat Vettes/Camaros at the strip and had people say they were impressed.(even though I was never happy with the times, the fact was it was at 2000 feet and 108 degrees on average during the summer) When I traded the '95 for the Cobra I pulled all my aftermarket stuff. When I pulled my valve covers at least 5 of my rockers were hammered because the body was pushing on the valve tip, NOT THE ROLLER!!! The push rods were too short and I'm sure I was getting waaay less then full valve actuation. Wonder what the car would of run set up right!! Last note, sold the heads to a machine shop who machined the pedastals down and converted 'em to stud mount. He reported the guides were fine. I have heard of the guide problems also but mine didn't do it.
