I have always been a tried and true Honda fan but they dont build what we want. I want a 500 cc with power steering and independant suspension. Dad wants the power steering feature so he can drive it easier in the rough terrain so he can spend time checking cows. I think we will get the Yamaha Grizzly 700. It has independant suspension, fuel injection, power steering, and a full lock mode on the 4x4 system.
I have always kinda liked the yamaha's, from when they used to have those moto 4's or whatever they were called.
Now a days they all seem to be pretty good. Ive ridded a 750 kawasaki that would make your head spin, my dad has had pretty good luck with suzuki, and my one uncle stands by hondas. My one previous boss had a bombardier, and that thing was deadly too.
I think they are all good when they work and junk when they break. A friend has a 750 Kawi and its strong. A guy I know just got a CanAm 800 and put a small lift and 31 inch tires with sweet rims and a full snorkel kit for air intake and CVT and diff venting. I hear they are psycho!
I dont know why Honda is staying the course and not getting into the game as far as aligning with the competition in models and features. Their biggest quad is the Rincon 680. it has independant suspension but no low range - useless for us. they have a power steering unit but its on a 500 cc air cooled version.
A few guys I know have Mud Lites and they are wearing quite a bit - maybe too much road travel?? They were talking about going with the Mud Lite radials next time. I think these guys went one inch taller and one inch wider than stock.
got 2 done today, a slight misunderstanding between me and the tire guy and he only ordered 2 instead of 4... the others should be in tomorrow. they look sharp but i haven't mounted them yet. measured up yesterday and there doesn't seem to be anywhere they'll rub!!
